I'm not an expert on turquoise but I will share my observations - I was able to break into one of the smaller, greener pieces and it had color all the way through. The matrix is textured and will catch your fingernail (not just painted on), and these do not melt or burn at all... Also they are very pretty. I'm really happy with these!
